Cities and villages

Sarlat (you will never forget this beautiful restored medieval city, already inhabited since the Gallo-Roman times. And the serene beauty of the many curious and picturesque cobbled streets, the many handsome buildings with their old facades and magnificant stone roofs, where you may wish to return or even settle),  Rocamadour (a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an important pilgrimage city, hanging on a cliff. What’s more, you can visit the Black Madonna in the Notre Dame chapel. Rocamadour is a place of legend and history, with old stone houses, majestic towers and a castle with a magnificent view over the Alzou canyon), Gourdon, Cahors, Collonges-La-Rouge (surrounded by lush countryside, the town has unusual red sandstone buildings. 25 towers peek above the village’s narrow streets lined with manor houses and artisan boutiques), Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (the medieval village with thirteen listed historic buildings perched on a cliff three hundred feet above the river Lot is one of the most important sites in the region. Enclosed by fortified gates, it includes many old stone houses whose facades of stone or wood were build between the XIII and XVI centuries and are caracterised by their steep-sloped flat-tile roofs), many of the “most beautiful towns of France”: Carennac, Loubressac, Domme, La Roque Gageac

Castles

Fénelon (feudal fortress dominating the Dordogne valley XIV-XVII), Castelnaud (at the confluence of the Dordogne and the Céou with a splendid panorama, sheltering the museum of war in the Middle Ages, fun for children XII-XVI), Montal (the elegance of the first Renaissance: the façade with delicate sculptures and inside a rich collection of furniture and hangings), Beynac (carved out of a cliff rock 150 meters above the Dordogne valley this XII century fortress offers his visitors a breath-taking view over the valley of five castles), Castelnau-Bretenoux (built to resist attack during Medieval wars, the castle is an impressive example of the development of fortified architecture XV-XVI), Lacapelle-Marival (built on the sides of a rock, surrounded by large ditches dug into the sandstone and high wooden palisades, the original dungeon faces a chapel of the XII century witch surround the houses of the town replaced in the XVI century by the current neo-Gothic church), Biron (with great views over the surrounding countryside, the castle bears witness to the extraordinary talent and fantastic inspiration of the best builders of all times XII-XVII) , Milandes (labeled “house of the illustrious” the woman’s castle was the exceptional destiny of an actress out of the common: Joséphine Baker, XV-XIX).

Caves

Grottes de Lacave (a magical journey lasting 1.30 hr deep into the hillside that starts in a small electric train that leads you through a visual and sound show to the “hall of wonders”) , Gouffre de Padirac (is the first site in France of the underground world. The orifice of this natural cavity is impressive: 35m diameter for 75m depth. Nearly half of the visit is by little boat, led by a guide,on the underground river), Grotte du Pech-Merle (a prehistoric cave with authentic paintings wich are over 20.000 years old. Many exceptional works of art, well preserved and representative of all the techniques and subjects of cave art).

Gardens

Jardins de Marqueyssac (150.000 hunderd years old hand-pruned boxwoods constitute the main theme of the 6 Km walks, showing great imagination and full of movement at the expense of symmetry and regularity leading you to the belvedere, a fabulous balcony 192 meters high and 130 meters above the Dordogne valley), Jardins d’Eyrignac (10 hectarers of sculpted plants, the garden is a unique example of Topiary art. There are 7 gardens with colorful yew, boxwood, hornbeam and cypress), Les jardins d’eau (3 hectares of water gardens with a variety of pools, calm waters, waterfalls, streams, lush vegetation conferred by lotus, flowers with multiple colcors).

Sport and leisure and with children in nature

Canoeing and Kayaking (on the Dordogne river or the Lot, several starting points, several distances), Mountain bike (several maps at your disposal at our place), Golf (Golf and Country Club at Souillac, 18 holes), Walking (there are many marked hiking (1.500 Km in the Lot). We have sSeveral maps available for you and you even can do a hiking holiday: Walkalot ), Zoo at Gramat (an educational and cultural walk with 150 species of wild and domestic animals), Special train in Martel (steam or diesel locomotive for a fantastic commented trip of about 1 hr), Prehistodino parc (30 dinosaurs represented in full size along a commented walk and decorated with funny and educational signs), Forêt des Singes (150 Barbary macaques in complete freedom in a 20-hectare park), Reptiland (larges collection of venomous reptiles in France, presented in daylight in a covered and air-conditioned space), Rocher des Aigles (Eagles, Vultures, Condors, Hawks … offer you natural performances in the air and on the ground, just before your eyes, that will suprise you), La forêt des Ecureuils (outdoor activity park: tree climbing, paintball and via ferrata), Quercyland (7 pools, 3 tobbogans, pentagliss, bouncy castles, etc..).
